INFORMATION FOR THOSE ATTENDING CHESIL ROCKS 2020

Our website is being re-developed this Autumn and we hope to have a new one running by Christmas. In the meantime:

Chesil Rocks will be on three days in 2020 - with a comedy night on Thursday 18th June, an evening on classical music on Friday 19th June and then from 12 noon until around midnight on Saturday 20th June. Those wishing to attend should be aware that each event will be subject to individual ticketing. In other words, the ticket to one event will not entitle you to attend the other! You will need to purchase a ticket to each event. Our postcode is DT3 4HX and the address is Higher Farmhouse, Shop Lane, Langton Herring. The village is situated a few miles west of Weymouth and one mile south of the B3157 Weymouth to Portesham road.

As you approach the village, you will see Chesil Rocks signs. Those attending the event as festival-goers should follow the signs to CAR PARK. Please note, there is no overnight parking in the car park. Please do NOT leave your car in the car park overnight on either of the two days. If you intend to get a taxi home, we suggest you either also get dropped at the event by taxi, or park sensibly on the outskirts of the village - and walk the few minutes to the festival site. We have negotiated a special £13 set fare with Fleetline taxis for Weymouth based festival goers to get to and from the site to the town centre.

Those performing and who have instruments to unload, those who have a stall at the event or those who are disabled should follow the signs for UNLOADING/DISABLED – which will take you directly to the festival site itself. Once unloaded, musicians, and stallholders and disabled persons vehicles MUST be moved to the car park.

"Can we bring our own alcohol to Chesil Rocks?"
The answer is no. Please do not bring any alcohol to the event. We say this for two reasons: in order to comply with the law and control the supply of alcohol effectively at our event, we need to be the only supplier. Secondly, we are trying to raise funds for a crucial charity. Please respect this and support us and be aware that it is a condition of entry that those attending are prepared to be subject to search. Our drinks are reasonably priced and cheaper than in most pubs.

"Can I bring my dog?"
The answer is no. Please do not bring your dog to our event. No dogs are allowed at Chesil Rocks, in the festival arena, in the car park or anywhere else in the grounds of Higher Farmhouse. This includes little dogs, medium dogs, large dogs, funny dogs, sad dogs, well behaved dogs, dogs with bad attitudes, stuffed dogs, dogs disguised as cats, old dogs, young dogs and middle-aged dogs. Please don’t ask if you can bring your dog. You can’t bring your dog. Service/Guide dogs are welcome, of course!

This is England – expect changes in the weather. Although the weather is forecast to be sunny and warm, bring hot and sunny weather stuff, wet weather stuff and particularly warm clothing as temperatures are likely to drop significantly as the evening develops - as they always do in June. You probably won't need skis however. We will have on sale some sun cream, ponchos, umbrellas and space blankets – priced almost at cost.

High quality programmes will be available at the entrance - which will be free. By entering the festival, those attending should be aware that their photograph may be taken and that they consent to their photograph, or likeness being used without compensation on any publicity and social media and that they release Chesil Rocks from any liability whatsoever.

If ordering a taxi, please ask for the taxi to meet you at the VILLAGE BUS STOP and refrain from asking to be met anywhere else, for example the Elm Tree Inn – which is near houses. In previous years, people waiting for a taxi have disturbed residents. The majority of villagers support our event. Please do not compromise this.

We hope to have tickets going on sale before Christmas.
